Spreading joy, celebrating culture and raising awareness for the environment and social equality are all on the agenda at this Munich festival.
During the Christmas season, the Tollwood Winter Festival takes place on Theresienwiese from 24 November to 23 December 2026, offering a colourful mix of acrobatics, concerts, arts and crafts, and culinary delights. After dark, the brightly illuminated tent roofs and sparkling sculptures can be seen from afar, guiding visitors towards the festival grounds. “MADE TO MOVE YOU” is the motto of the 2026 Winter Festival. The big Tollwood New Year's Eve Party will also take place on 31 December.
The highlights of the 2026 Tollwood Winter Festival include three international productions at the Grand Chapiteau: Australian circus company Gravity & Other Myths with its acrobatic show “Ten Thousand Hours”, choreographer Lewis Major with his dance production “Triptych”, and the circus production “Mad in Finland” by Galapiat Cirque.
Stroll, browse, discover and indulge at the “Market of Ideas”, featuring arts and crafts alongside certified organic food from around the world. Admission to the festival grounds and the “Market of Ideas” is free of charge.
Visitors can browse embroidered handbags, fairly traded clothing, jewellery, pottery and much more. Anyone looking for a truly special gift is sure to find something here. And those meeting friends for a meal at Tollwood can enjoy everything from Indian curry and couscous to African specialities, mulled wine or a traditional Bavarian grilled bratwurst in a bread roll.
Environmental and social responsibility also play an important role at Tollwood: the festival's food and drink offerings are certified organic, fair trade requirements apply to certain products, and the organisers use green electricity and take measures to reduce waste.
The Tollwood Winter Festival also offers a varied programme for children. At the children's tent, they can enjoy arts and crafts activities every day.
To welcome the New Year, Tollwood hosts a big New Year's Eve Party featuring DJs and live music across several party areas. At midnight, as the clock strikes twelve, the traditional New Year's waltz begins on the Tollwood festival grounds. Everyone is invited to dance.
